Derek Burrell Fulbright Postdoc School of Electrical and Computer Engineering

Dr. Derek Burrell earned his Ph.D. in Optical Sciences from the University of Arizona, following an M.S. in Optics and Photonics from the University of Central Florida and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Michigan Technological University. He previously held a Fulbright Postdoctoral Fellowship at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and worked as an electro-optics engineer for the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory. His dissertation was awarded the Doctoral Thesis Prize by the Institute of Physics Optical Group, and his research interests span 3D imaging and wavefront sensing across active electro-optical and passive infrared systems. Currently, he chairs the Laser Systems Technical Group for Optica and serves as an Assistant Editor of Applied Optics.
