Profile of the research groups of the IAS department

Development and evaluation of interactive assistance, training and information management systems with an application focus on image-based reconnaissance and surveillance.

Work includes the design, implementation, and evaluation of system solutions for interactive sensor data evaluation; knowledge generation and integration into expert systems to support networked data evaluation; user, workflow, and application domain modeling; and competency management in distributed systems.

Laboratory and field experiments on demonstrators and operational systems are conducted to support and evaluate human-machine communication.

In addition to the development of fundamental system architectures to promote interoperability, components for interactive image evaluation, ontology-based specialized databases, network-enabled information management and training systems characterize the range of services of the department. During development, compliance with and monitoring of national and international software quality standards is a matter of course.

Experience in the application area of image-based reconnaissance and surveillance is exchanged in various international cooperations.
