Industrial Communication

The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is the ICT architecture of every data-driven and AI-integrated production ecosystem. The smooth integration of the Internet and IT with the store floor and its machines and systems (IT/OT integration) requires new networking technologies that enable high dynamics, security, robustness, real-time capability and bandwidth.  

Fraunhofer IOSB-INA, with its 5G Application Center and TSN Test Lab communication laboratories, is tackling these challenges systematically and purposefully in R&D projects together with partners from industry and research. We support partners and customers with tasks relating to 5G, 6G, Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN), OPC UA, Profinet, APL, security and Time Sensitive Networking (TSN). Interoperability tests with third-party devices, performance evaluations of implementations or implementations of new protocol standards can be carried out in the test labs and the SmartFactoryOWL. Our test environments offer optimal conditions for corresponding plugfests and hackathons.
