IOSB sites

Fraunhofer IOSB has its headquarters in Karlsruhe and Ettlingen, Germany. Other large sites include the Advanced System Technology branch AST in Ilmenau and the Industrial Automation branch INA in Lemgo, Germany.

In addition, Fraunhofer IOSB operates a number of branch offices for topic-centered cooperation with local partners. Established are the contact office in Beijing for the support of the Chinese market, the research group IT security for Critical Infrastructures Energy and Water in Görlitz (cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences Görlitz) and the research group Smart Ocean Technologies SOT in Rostock (together with the Fraunhofer Institutes IGD, IGP and IKTS within the Ocean Technology Campus Rostock)

In 2021/2022, further branches have been added with the newly opened Karlsruhe Research Factory for AI-integrated Production (together with KIT and Fraunhofer ICT), the Fraunhofer Center for the Security of Socio-Technical Systems SIRIOS in Berlin (together with the Fraunhofer Institutes FOKUS, EMI and IVI) and the newly to be established research group Active Laser Fibers in Oberkochen (in close connection with local industry).
