Optics of the atmosphere

A necessary subject area for all research areas of the department is the investigation of the impact of the atmosphere on electro-optical systems. In the field of environmental confinement, the department makes use of comprehensive data material on confinement factors such as atmospheric refraction and turbulence, which has been measured over the past years. These measurements are the basis for the evaluation of atmospheric influences on sensors with the aim to correct them in the best possible way.
