Business unit Advanced Sensing

Welcome to the website of the business unit Advanced Sensing of Fraunhofer IOSB! We make the invisible visible and develop innovative imaging systems together with you – from the initial concept to the prototype.

In this business unit, we combine our expertise in advanced sensor technologies, from hyperspectral sensors to laser systems. We integrate state-of-the-art sensor technologies, optical measurement methods and automated data evaluation for customized, highly precise results.

Our main areas of focus include laser communication in free space, light field technology for directional displays, and precise detection and inspection systems. We offer solutions for the contactless measurement and quality control of complex components, embedded in production processes in the automotive and consumer goods industries. We use drones and long-range sensors to monitor the environment and critical infrastructures, such as wind turbines and pipelines.
