Message creation
In sensor-supported reconnaissance, the data supplied by the sensor is interpreted by highly specialized evaluators and the results of the evaluation process are summarized in a formalized mission result report. This message contains the identified objects, their position, type, status, activities and other information relevant to a higher-level decision-maker. In order to ensure unambiguous interpretation and a high degree of interoperability and automatic further processing, a message is subject to strict regulations regarding the structure and vocabulary to be used. Therefore, the processor needs extensive and easy-to-use computer support in order to create messages that are correct in terms of content and form in the shortest possible time.
i2exrep
i2exrep - Interactive ISR[1] Exploitation Report - is an interactive, Java- and XML-based software for the creation and processing of formalized exploitation result reports. Developed especially for military reconnaissance and surveillance processes, i2exrep is also suitable for use in civil environments (disaster control, police, rescue services, medicine). i2exrep was developed within the scope of a self-research project at the Fraunhofer IOSB and has been continuously enhanced against the background of operational requirements and a changing demand situation. Through the application of state-of-the-art technologies such as JavaTM, XML[2] and an object-relational persistence service, i2exrep is both platform- and database-independent, guarantees a high degree of integration into sensor-supported evaluation systems and ensures the greatest possible interoperability with CSD[3] servers, command information, situation display and other information-processing systems. In addition to the core functionality, this opens up a wide range of applications and enables mobile use.
Reporting formats
i2exrep implements the following reporting formats:
- RECCEXREP - Reconnaissance Exploitation Report according to STANAG 3377 and 3596 for the evaluation of electro-optical sensor data
- MIEXREP - Motion Imagery Exploitation Report for video analysis
- MTIEXREP - Moving Target Indication Exploitation Report for moving target reconnaissance
- ISRSPOTREP - ISR Spot Report for fast, ISR-based message creation
- IPIR - Initial Programmed Interpretation Report according to STANAG 3377 for the evaluation of electro-optical sensor data
- SUPIR - Supplemental Programmed Interpretation Report according to
- STANAG 3377 for the evaluation of electro-optical sensor data
The two reporting formats MIEXREP and MTIEXREP were developed under the leadership of Fraunhofer IOSB and accepted by JISRP [4] for inclusion in STANAG 3377.
