Looking inside a virtual factory in which spectroscopy can be used for the analysis of products from the food sector across all processes

The most important international trade event for all topics related to measuring and testing technology as well as vision technology, image processing and sensor technology will be digitally available to qualified professionals worldwide 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from 18.5.21 without a time limit.

The modular intelligent process analytics for Industry 4.0

The Fraunhofer IOSB presents a modular and intelligent process analytics system for the acquisition of quality-relevant material parameters by means of optical spectroscopy. Designed as a modular system, individual solutions for quality and process control can be implemented easily and cost-effectively. The evaluation of the spectroscopic measurement data is performed by embedded AI (artificial intelligence) at the sensor level, so that calibrated quality and material parameters can be transferred directly to the process and plant control.

The presented inspection technology can be used in a variety of ways across industries. Other areas of application range from agricultural production to the chemical and pharmaceutical industries to the recycling of plastics and textiles.

Fraunhofer Business Unit Vision joint booth:

Despite the cancellation of Control as a presence trade show for the year 2021, the new developments of the Fraunhofer Business Unit Vision remain relevant and we would like to invite you to get an online overview of the digital exhibits at the joint booth of the Fraunhofer Business Unit Vision.

AHMT - XXXV. Messtechnisches Symposium

September 22-23, 2021

The host of the AHMT Symposium 2021 is the University of Kassel, the Department of Measurement Technology in the Department of Electrical Engineering/Computer Science.

The Arbeitskreis der Hochschullehrer für Messtechnik e. V. (AHMT) is an association of university professors who are or have been active in the field of measurement technology in research and teaching.

As an interdisciplinary field they deal with:

  • Measurement principles and their physical fundamentals,
  • the modeling and simulation of measurement processes,
  • the engineering implementation,
  • the transfer into industrial application.

Here we are represented with a contribution:

Sensitivity enhanced roll-angle sensor by means of quarter-waveplates.
Chia-Wei Chen on 09/22/2021; Session 2: Measurement of mechanical quantities.

Thermografie Forum Eugendorf 2021

September 17 - 18, 2021

The organizer is the Austrian Society for Thermography, professional association for technical thermography and testing of building airtightness. Topics of the forum:

  • The use of infrared thermography has become indispensable in many areas of development and quality assurance, as well as in the maintenance of technical systems.
  • The air tightness measurement is an indispensable instrument for the determination of the tightness of building envelopes - and often a condition for the conversion of modern energy concepts.
  • The Thermografie-Forum-Eugendorf has established itself for many years as a central platform for information and exchange of experience in these fields.

Here we are represented with a lecture:

Hyperspectral Imaging for Characterization and Sorting of Plastics.
    Benjamin-Alexander Timmerbeil on 09/17/2021 at 11:10 a.m.

OSA - Optical Design and Fabrication Congress 2021

June 27, 2021 - July 1, 2021

Optical design and fabrication is playing an increasingly important role in our modern society as more and more applications for optics are developed, especially in the areas of imaging, sensing and lighting systems.

The 2021 OSA Optical Design and Fabrication Congress will address these topics in detail: optical fabrication and testing, and free-form optics, and will bring together scientists, engineers, and designers.

We were represented with two papers:

2nd place at the 16th InformatiCup 2021 of the German Informatics Society (GI)

May 15, 2021

© Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V.

Our DHBW student Mr Felix Lehnerer (Department of Visual Inspection Systems) together with his fellow student Silas Schnurr alias "Team Lehnurr", achieved 2nd place at the 16th InformatiCup 2021 of the German Informatics Society (GI).

The GI competition challenges students to independently familiarise themselves with new technologies and to develop solutions to problems in teamwork from the knowledge they have acquired.

The "spe_ed" task was to write a programme that automatically plays a game and wins. What sounds like fun at first actually has a lot to do with computer science.

"Lehnurr" prevailed against 30 teams and was allowed to present its solution with four other teams in a three-hour final round on 22 April. Due to the current situation, the presentations took place virtually and were broadcast live.

The state of the art in optical characterization of materials is advancing rapidly. New insights into the theoretical underpinnings of this research have been gained and exciting developments have been made in practice, driven by new applications and innovative sensor technologies that are constantly evolving.

The great success of past conferences proves the need for a platform to present, discuss and evaluate the latest research results in this interdisciplinary field. For this reason, the International Conference on Optical Characterization of Materials (OCM) will be held for the fifth time in March 2021.
