Task and solution

The modular and intelligent spectrometer system "SmartSpectrometer" developed by Fraunhofer IOSB enables the monitoring of quality-relevant material parameters in real time. Individual solutions for quality and process control can be realized easily and cost-effectively with different modules.

The SmartSpectrometer modules are integrated via the open communication interface OPC UA (Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture), which ensures interoperable data and information exchange within and between different automation levels in the sense of Industry 4.0. The comprehensive acquisition and evaluation of spectroscopic measurement data and the exchange of production-relevant information can optimize production processes, increase quality and save resources.

Analysis of measurement data at sensor level by embedded AI

The analysis of spectroscopic measurement data is performed by embedded AI (artificial intelligence) at the sensor level. A new method enables calibration migration, eliminating the complex and time-consuming development of calibration models when replacing sensors or using multiple measurement points.

Applications

  • Food industry
  • Agriculture
  • Chemical and pharmaceutical industry
  • Recycling of plastics and textiles
