AktiMeter – in-cabin monitoring for intelligent, real-time behavior analysis

What is the Fraunhofer IOSB AktiMeter?

The AktiMeter is an innovative product specially developed for the automatic detection of human movements, gestures, postures, activities & interactions with objects. As a ready-to-measure system for 3D activity recognition, the AktiMeter uses AI-supported deep learning algorithms to record body posture in real time and reliably distinguish typical activities such as eating, drinking, talking on the phone, sleeping or reading. The product has a modular design and can be used flexibly, making it ideal for market research, user-centered product development, ergonomics studies and vehicle interior research. By processing anonymous skeletal data, the AktiMeter meets the highest data protection and GDPR compliance requirements. With live visualization via an app, real-time data output, extensive data logging and a programming interface for system integration, the AktiMeter offers a powerful complete package for the automated recording and analysis of human movements and behaviour.

What is the Aktimeter used for?

Fraunhofer IOSB's AktiMeter records the natural behavior of occupants in cars, among other things. Customers use the AktiMeter in real vehicles and driving simulators to adapt vehicle interiors and assistance systems to the activities and postures of the occupants. The real-time function is particularly appreciated in the development of prototypes and demo systems.

The AktiMeter enables detailed analysis of human behavior. It allows the automated and anonymized evaluation of long videos, e.g. of car journeys. Our customers use the AktiMeter for benchmarks of interiors and assistance functions, for market research and evaluation of user studies and CarClinics.

Who benefits from AktiMeter?

  • R&D & AI: Develop adaptive systems based on real behavior. Validate interactions. Develop next-gen models.
  • UX & market research: Discover data that is actually used. GDPR-compliant, scalable insights.
  • Sales & product experience: Present live features. Back up claims with measurable data.
  • Ergonomics & Science: Capture posture data for human-centered design decisions.

Your added value with the AktiMeter

  • Gesture, object, activity and posture recognition

The AktiMeter uses deep learning algorithms to detect people's posture and movements. It distinguishes between up to 34 different activities, such as eating, drinking or talking on the phone. It also recognizes hand gestures and interaction with objects.

  • Real-time output and data logging

The system processes the collected data in real time and can continuously log movement sequences. This allows live analyses and subsequent evaluations to be carried out.

  • App for live visualization

A specially developed app allows the recorded data to be visualized in real time. Users can monitor and analyze body poses, gestures and activities directly on a dashboard.

  • API + export formats

The AktiMeter offers a programming interface that enables easy integration into existing systems. It also supports various export formats so that the data can be used for further analyses or reports.
