One example of such a control center is the new control center in the press shop of the Daimler plant in Bremen. Together with the control center supplier Jungmann Systemtechnik, we put the control center into operation; our part was to supply the control system and to connect it to all subordinate subsystems. Now the control room personnel can see not only the status of the coil lines, blanking lines and deep-drawing presses, but also of the driverless transport systems, the warehouse management and the scrap conveyors that are monitored by cameras.
The 2008 Harbor Report states: “The company has purchased a technically advanced control center that monitors every function in the plant from a central location. This enables the tracking of every metric imaginable in real time.”
IOSB received the 2010 Manufacturing IT Award for implementing the project on time and within budget.
