The requirements of manufacturing enterprises can most aptly be characterized by the slogan “faster, better, cheaper”. The high dynamics in every-day production resulting from failures in machinery, illness among staff or urgent orders, for example, are the main obstacles in achieving these ideals. For this reason, our manufacturing control systems are aimed to generate optimum time schedules and allocation plans, to update them continuously, depending on the current situation in manufacturing, and also to implement them in production.
The appropriate ProVis.APS tools process events in production immediately, thereby minimizing the consequences. Changes in production are identified so the manufacturing schedule can be updated at once. This procedure is based on the specific optimization methods developed by Fraunhofer IOSB, which have been explored and enhanced continuously over the last few decades.
A flexible model ensures the quick and easy customization of these methodologies to the re-quirements of the relevant production environment. Modeling is based on the ISA-95 standard. Manual customization and interface programming are reduced to a minimum. ProVis.APS is web-based and visualizes the current states and scheduling of manufacturing orders and re-sources in real time. This truly innovative technology allows a manufacturing control system to be operated using a conventional web browser.
