Fraunhofer Alliances

 Fraunhofer Energy Alliance

The Fraunhofer Energy Alliance is the gateway to the R&D-Services of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft for energy technology and economics. In collaboration with industrial partners, we aim at strengthening our technology leadership in energy efficiency and renewables. The Fraunhofer Energy Alliance offers an easier access to the expertise of the Fraunhofer Institutes, particularly to small and medium-sized companies, but also to the policy and energy business sector.

Fraunhofer Water Systems Alliance SysWasser

Thanks to the wide range of expertise of its members in 12 Fraunhofer Institutes, the Fraunhofer Water Systems Alliance SysWasser can develop innovative technical solutions, complex water management system solutions and cutting-edge urban water infrastructure concepts for nearly all topics connected with water management.

Fraunhofer Big Data Alliance

The Fraunhofer Big Data Alliance consists of 25 institutes, which bundle their cross-sector competencies. Their expertise ranges from market-oriented Big Data solutions for individual problems to the professional education of Data Scientists and Big Data specialists.

Fraunhofer Embedded Alliance

Successful applied research and consulting on embedded systems must consider the disciplines of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science in an interdisciplinary manner.

The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft has outstanding competencies in these engineering disciplines. The aspiration of the Fraunhofer Alliance Embedded Systems is to bundle the necessary expertise of the areas mechanics, electronics, and IT across the members of the alliance in order to offer solutions for problems encountered both in individual disciplines and in the overall system and the included interactions between the various disciplines.

Scientific Collaboration

The FraunhoferAdvanced System Technology AST has worked closely with the local university, Ilmenau – University of Technology, ever since it was founded in 1995 Two Faculties, those for Computer Science and Automation and for Electrical Engineering and Information Technologyare particularly involved in joint research with the Fraunhofer AST. In the following, details of the University staff responsible for liaison with Fraunhofer on the various projects are shown:
