Task and Solution

The FlexSort sorting system serves as a development platform for The new process of sensor-based bulk material sorting. The system is not only modular and can, for example, be equipped with various sensor systems or quick-acting valves, it is also mobile: The sorting unit is housed in a construction container and can thus be used for field trials on site at interested parties. The system is particularly suitable for sorting minerals and tasks from the recycling sector and enables the reliable separation of material streams.

In addition to the core of the sorting system, components for material handling are connected to the system at the Karlsruhe site. A silo enables the addition of new material, and several vibratory and belt conveyors realize a material circuit if required. Thus, the system is also suitable for obtaining very large amounts of sensor data, which can be used as a basis for the development of machine learning methods.
